“Hello, my beautiful hedgehog! Who’s catching the early worm?”

So, this season, the time that I have been able to spend in the garden has been limited due to a tight working schedule. But wait, I have not let it slow me down and skip any of the spoutin’ things! All the contrary, actually. Every day, I am in awe how well the plants are growing, especially inside the greenhouse.

These early mornings in the garden are magical, and I want to show why.

I am waking up before six in the morning, breathing in the fresh air, knowing there is only enough time to make sure everything is ready for the day ahead. Slowly, I crawl into the greenhouse, and before anything, I just wonder. Let’s see how the greenhouse is waking up to a new day.

I do a quick clean-up: snipping off some of the vigorously growing leaves here and there. Marigolds are now in full bloom, while my corn grows stronger by the day. And the fearless cucumber is reaching for the sky, oh, wonders!

It’s time to open the windows – these crazy sprouts need the fresh air and the gentle breeze, too 🍃 I know that it is going to be a hot day today…

Before long, I get reminded that I am not the only one up this early. What a delight it is to see the headhog, who certainly was there before anyone, crunching its way right outside the greenhouse. And hey, look at this bee who got right into business when the doors opened.

The colours in the garden keep intensifying and multiplying faster than I can keep up with. Deep into the season now, it is clear that having used our own compost in the garden beds has worked miracles in the overall health of the plants this year 🌱

Soon it will be time for me to get going. The plants have now gotten the necessary hydration for the bright day ahead, and I am feeling grateful for it all 💓

…The only thing I wish is that I had more time to stay for a bit longer.
