Alright, I cannot hold it any longer. I have made some serious progress in the greenhouse, and I am so thrilled to show how cool it is becoming. It has been absolutely amazing to work outside in the Sun while butterflies dance around in the garden. The air is so fresh and full of beautiful, energizing spring vibes. Allow me to take you through a short recap of how things have developed in Project: Sprout & About.
Base Work And Preparations
After the greenhouse was clean and empty, I started to build the frame for the vines from the leftover wooden edges. Cut, washed, painted, drilled together, and dug to the ground, they now support the vine perfectly and also give an elegant frame to the greenhouse entrance. I will direct the vines to grow upwards, over to the ceiling, and the front door. In summertime, when (and if) they bloom, they will give a lush entrance to the greenhouse.

Since I was left with some extra brown paint, I decided to also paint the wooden sticks that I found on the back end of the greenhouse. Why are they there in the ceiling, and what is their purpose? I am not sure because they definitely don’t support the house. Whatever the reason they were built there years ago (probably by my grandfather or my dad), I didn’t remove them, I actually find that they give the greenhouse a cool edge. It might work as a perfect place for some decorations on the top/around it. It has got a triangular form.

And now, finally.
Here is the task I had been so eagerly waiting for! Evening out the ground. Yes, I did it manually because, no, I didn’t have this fancy machine that would compress the soil. Why use a machine if I can do it myself, haha. I am sure that leveling the surface with my bare eyes will do just as fine. Added some extra soil that I had previously removed from the greenhouse just to make it more even. I am a pro (or a wanna-be pro; much advice has been shared from the above, more connoisseur parents of mine).

The transformation is going to be a real one, and that is due to this notable change I have made in the greenhouse. When before, basically the whole inside of the greenhouse was meant for growing plants, it will now get a more compact, functional, and aesthetic interior. Or at least, that is where I am aiming at. The whole inside soil area has a weed barrier fabric for easier and more appealing gardening. I did some measuring and cutting and had to patiently place it inside before the wind almost took it away.

Tile work was heavy and probably the lenghtiest task so far. These are the same tiles as used in the greenhouse before; I just flipped them around, cleaned them up, and treated them with a protective paint. These add so much personality to the overall look, as every tile is slightly different.

Stepping In And Assembling
Having concluded the drilling, heavy lifting, cutting, organizing, and painting, it is time to leave the garden boots outside. From here on, no more dirty boots inside the greenhouse because I want to keep it tidy over there. Some final cleaning must be done over the doorway and the outside of the entrances, but I figured I would leave that for later since there will still be moving around quite some.

Well, maybe I was lying a bit, because actually I was left with a few extra tiles, which I plan to dig outside near the entrance and make a little path leading to the greenhouse from both ends. I imagine it’s going to be very cute. It also means that I am not done with heavy lifting quite yet…
Getting to step inside in “house shoes” was so exciting because finally it started to feel like a real deal. It was time to do some assembling with the items I was going to put inside the greenhouse. There will be four raised beds for my brave sprouts and several different pots for flowers. I will need to carefully consider what spot is the most suitable for each plant. Watermelons (I have three of them growing!), for instance, will need a container for each one separately and the sunniest spot.

And lastly, I want to drop a little teaser picture of what’s going to go inside! How adorable is this chair and table set ❤ The set is an oldie-goldie from years back from another house. It’s so inspiring and fulfilling to see that they will now get a new life in this greenhouse.

The transformation is a process, as you can see, it means taking one step at a time. I am having such fun times working out everything and putting things together. Slowly, it starts to look like a cute little greenhouse. Soon, the only thing missing will be the sprouts who move in and fill the space with green life.
But that is all for now! More of the greenhouse transformation later… ❤
Speaking of Sprouts, everything is going mostly well over there. Tomatoes, watermelons, and chilis are ruling it!
