Let’s see what the starting point looks like…

Inviting much, isn’t it? And yes, I’m the guilty one for leaving the dead greens in the greenhouse last season…
But before anything, I must say that I am super excited. The blog has now been launched, and I am two posts in. Slowly, I begin to feel like the project will ACTUALLY take off. Until now, I have just dreamt of doing a greenhouse transformation, but from here on, I will introduce some action in the game. My first two posts were more like a warm-up getting myself started. It was good to get the writing going, and it pushed me to get serious about blogging. Or as serious as a personal project can get. But NOW, I am already scheduling a warmer day to kick off the first phase. That first phase is going to be the cleaning phase, and I can finally start with the DOING! Yippyy!!

Surely, you can see from the photos the scale of a clean-up that must be done. To start fresh in the greenhouse, I have decided to take away almost all of the old soil that’s in it. This will allow me to freely change the interior to something more cute – and functional, of course. Something that makes the greenhouse more inviting. Given that I am not a professional gardener, I think that using pots for cultivating will allow me to be more precise with each plant’s needs. Or at least I hope so. But more of that, I will share in another post. And also, I think I now have all the seeds that I will cultivate ready! 🙂 Doube-yippyy!

The poor greenhouse could not only use a profound cleaning and polishing of the glass surfaces but also some moss removal, brushing, and wiping. I am hoping SO MUCH that the glass won’t need any reparation because I saw some cracks here and there… Here are the steps I will be taking in the clean-up process.
ACTION PLAN:
1. Old soil be gone.
Removing old soil and dumping it into the garden plot near the greenhouse. Expecting dust, angry bugs, and tense muscle work. Preparing myself with a hardworking attitude and seeing sweat and dirt everywhere. There is going to be oh-so-much soil to be removed that I am just not thinking about it beforehand, I am just going to do it.
2. Moss work.
Scraping off the bigger chunks of moss from the walls, floor, and corners.
3. Ladder is friend.
Time to do glass cleaning. Starting from the outside feels like the right thing to do. I will use these green soaps that I already have at home for cleaning the surfaces. They are supposed to be more environmentally friendly and biodegradable. The inside part comes after.
4. Shine-up!
I am planning on doing the polishing with an old towel, water, and some vinegar. It should work just fine for shine and the final removal of any dirt or mold.

The next thing I am doing is gathering my equipment together, mentally preparing for the action, and then it is let’s goooo! 🙂 Hear you soon!
